IFS and Person Centred Counselling

Welcome

I am here as a one to one counsellor ready to listen to all that is going on for you. I work with adults who need support through life’s difficult times, or who want to explore and understand themselves more fully.

I love the image that counselling is like our ancient ancestors sitting and talking around the fire together. There is no judgement, just understanding, care and working things out together. I would like to offer that space to be completely present for you.

I believe counselling can work by offering a safe space for you to be curious about what you are feeling rather than to keep uncomfortable feelings pushed away.

What previous clients have said:

What is counselling

Counselling works by being a place to learn and understand yourself better.

It allows thoughts and feelings to emerge slowly, with someone guiding you along the way. Often, in normal life, the opposite of this happens and we react quickly in a stressful or upsetting situation and become overwhelmed.

Most of us will have ways of responding that we probably learnt in childhood, but are no longer serving us as adults. A lot of these reactions happen without us being aware of them, so counselling helps us see them and understand them better, and then look for ways to change if we want to.

Over time we can start to build an experience of connection and the exploration can go deeper.

You can feel safe to start to look at behaviours and reactions that no longer serve us. It’s also a place to try things out, to practice saying things you wouldn’t dare say anywhere else, or to build trust in relationships.

About me

I have experience of supporting people going through stressful and traumatic life situations. Sometimes, when a life event hits you, it can mean all sorts of other emotions from other experiences come flooding out, which is a lot to deal with. I work with adults to guide them through these difficult times of life.

I qualified as a counsellor in June 2020, and since then I have worked as a bereavement counsellor with Hereford Hospice, a general counsellor with MIND, and in private practice.

I am also trained as an Internal Family Systems (IFS) counsellor. This is a way of counselling that is rapidly gaining in popularity. It is a wonderfully creative and in-depth way for us to deeply understand ourselves. Have a look at my resources page to see some more information about what IFS is.
